NEMA CELEBRATES CARDI’S 45th ANNIVERSARY AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS LAUNCH

Planning Officer, Mrs. Oureika Lennon-Petty was joined by NEMA Public Relations Officer, Vesta Southwell at the launch of a project which is being spearheaded by Special Olympics athletes and facilitated by Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI).

The pilot project, or R.A.I.S.E. seeks to Raise(ing) Athletes’ Independence through Sustainable Enhancement, using a Protected Agricultural Model for Farming. The launch formed part of CARDI’s 45th Anniversary festivities, marking the progress made by the agency towards the goal of resilient crop management and the induction of modern materials and concepts into the traditional agricultural trade.

The event took place on Thursday, 5th December at the Schools’ Meals Compound, Needsmust and concluded with a tour of the Hydroponics Container Model, by attendees and guests.
